Sometimes I'll mention something like "overnight oats" and my boyfriend will not know what I'm talking about, and it's in those moments that I'm most acutely aware of Girl Internet vs Boy Internet.

Also there is the US Internet and the over-50s Internet and so on. As I am both outside the US and over 50 I can assure you I have no idea about anything you mentioned in either your Boy or Girl Internets. I am an avid gamer and have been extremely online since the 1980s but have never used Twitter, Instagram or TikTok. The wonderful thing about the Internet is just how many multitudes it contains!

Have you read Gretchen McCulloch’s Because Internet? It’s really good on these different multitudes and how differently we talk

This post is GENIUS also the boy group chat I’m in is literally called Stephen A. Squad, he really is the male Wendy!

Interesting! Seems that my internet is 100% the girl version even though I'm a (straight) man.

Very fun stuff, I like your style Ms Jennings. I always appreciate someone who can explain something like Instagram Reels to me without me having to actually spend any of my precious moments here on Earth looking at them.
